Make your own Outdoor Clothes!

skylinejacketI’ve been searching high and low for a pattern for making convertible pants. That’s the pants with the zip off legs. I’ve finally found a great source. The Green Pepper, Inc. They have a bunch of different patterns for outdoor adventure wear and accessories. Their patterns are printed on a heavy weight paper rather than tissue.

Happy Square Root Day

From cnet: Tuesday is Square Root Day, a rare holiday that occurs when the day and the month are both the square root of the last two digits of the current year. Numerically, March 3, 2009, can be expressed as 3/3/09, or mathematically as √9 = 3, or 3² = 3 × 3 = 9.

GROW BIOINTENSIVE® Sustainable Mini-Farming

main_front_picGROW BIOINTENSIVE is a form of mini farming that is not limited to people with large acreage, but is also suitable for people who live in an urban or suburban environment and would have limited amounts of land for gardening. It is a very green and sustainable way to produce large amounts of food from small amounts of land.

GROW BIOINTENSIVE mini-farming techniques make it possible to grow food using:
* 67% to 88% less water
* 50% to 100% less fertilizer
* 99% less energy than commercial agriculture, while using a fraction of the resources.

These techniques can also:
* Produce 2 to 6 times more food
* Build the soil up to 60 times faster than in nature, if properly used
* Reduce by half or more the amount of land needed
* Double-Dug, Raised Beds
* Composting
* Intensive Planting
* Companion Planting
* Carbon Farming
* Calorie Farming
* The Use of Open-Pollinated Seeds
* A Whole-System Farming Method

From their website: The world’s first portable, produce-where-you-consume, ethanol distiller. An easy to use, all-in-one unit. Just add the EFuel100 Feedstock Mix (EFuel100-FM, sugar and yeast) to the unit and press START–set it and forget it. In about 5-7 days, a tank full of Ethanol100 is ready to pump into your vehicle, using the built-in 50-ft retractable fueling hose. The MicroFueler is fully self-contained and self-monitoring. A convenient LCD display exhibits status and operating information. When pumping the ethanol, it operates just like a typical fuel pump at your local gas station.

Jack LaLanne Stainless Steal Power Juicer

Costco has the Jack LaLanne Stainless juicer for $99.99 via their website or $89.99 at their stores.
I picked one up yesterday at our local Costco. It is the most efficient juicer I have ever used. I am really impressed. Lots of pulp left over for cooking and composting.

This is a great price for an excellent juicer. It sells at other big box stores for as much as $150.00

Changes.

ThePin.info (The Peoples Information Network) is undergoing some changes.
First off we are changing the look of the website (work in progress). We hope you like it.
Secondly, up until recently our posts have been just for fun. We weren’t sure where we wanted to go with the site. Our new focus is going to be toward Green news and sustainable living. We will also be including recipes and how-to articles. Our reason for this change in format is due in part to the current bad economic situation around the world and the ever increasing loss of jobs in the US. People need a source of information to help them live on the cheap without sacrificing health and the environment. We want to do our part by being a source for this information.

Our old posts and videos will still be on the site. You find them by using the search or by browsing the archive.
